SPORTS/RECREATION ECONOMIC IMPACT ANALYSIS

EPG Victoria has conducted economic impact analyses for a number of sports and recreation events. These studies are intended to provide estimates of the economic impact of the events.  Projects have been conducted for the BC Games Society and for other local sporting event organizers.  Specific work program steps for sporting events involve the following tasks:

  • Determine number of athletes and venues

  • Develop participant survey forms

  • Interview sample of athletes, spectator and volunteers

  • Record participant expenditures by category

  • Conduct athlete and spectator counts

  • Calculate expenditures by athletes, spectators and volunteers

  • Aggregate sample survey estimates to represent all participants

  • Report results
